1977 FXS Lowrider oil check

My son just built me a chopper based on a 1977 FXS Lowrider. Since we don't have a service manual as yet, could someone tell me if the oil is checked while on the jiffy stand or upright? I'm betting it should be checked on the jiffy stand but want to make sure as the bike is really sweet and I want to keep it that way. And, yes, I know... I'm a lucky Dad!

I have always checked my 77 Sportster on the kick stand but there was hardly any difference either way.

On The kick stand, with a stock oil tank, I would assume this has an old style filter? This system should hold 4 quarts of oil

with stock oil bag you sould have a dipstick.On kickstand as long as you're above the line you're good to go. As a owner of a 78 Lowrider my stock oil bag only took 3 quarts. Horseshoe tank I now have takes 4
