2011 Ultra Limited tires

Time has come to replace stock tires on this 2011 ultra limited with 13500 miles. Always liked Dunlops , but I think I'm gonna give Michelin Commander II' s a try. After inspecting my tires coming off a 225 mile trip with 25 others following me running hard with a few drops of rain coming down this is what I found. Measurement showed 1/22 of an inch rear tire and 1/20 off an inch on front tire with a small crack line going side to side,picture will show more. I have gone far enough on these tires.

What kind of ruler/measurement device do you use to get those kind of readings?
Never heard of those readings.

I just use a Vernier Caliper with a dial on the depth gauge part. I know tires are measured in 1/32 of an inch but I'm a little less than 1/32'', just meaning tires are shot. Sorry about the confusion, after I posted it I realize there would be.

I love the stock tires on my 2010 limited!
Looks like a lot of tread left on yours, and I think you ran over something to create that crack.
What is the tread depth after 13,500?
Looks like 1/2 life left around 4-5/32.

I guess I'm cheap...Looks like good tread left to me...I just replaced mine on my 2011 two weeks ago @ a little over 18,000 miles on them...Went with the dunlaps again, really like the way they ride and with getting 18k out of them can't complain...Purchased them from J&P and then had a local cycle shop put them on for 25 a piece...

Looks like plenty of tread but that crack doesn't give off a warm fuzzy feeling........but that's just me.

I'd try and get a warranty replacement for that tire. Definitely looks like a defect.

You can't go wrong with the Commander II's, IMO. I've run Dunlops up until my last tire change,and even with getting 30,000+ miles on my front before changing, I'm sold on the ride and traction of the Michelin's. They were $50/pr. cheaper than the Dunlops, and after about 7000 miles, still look like new. Just keep the pressure at recommended psi, maybe 2 more #'s on the back if you do a lot of 2-up traveling.

Just to help with the measurement I gave, I used 1/20'' which I meant 0.120 from the Vernier caliper, which 0.125 = 1/8 of an inch. If you take that out its 4/32 of an inch. So I took some more measurements with the penny and quarter. Here are some more pictures with only 13500 miles. Hope this helps.

Time for a change of tire.
With the sideways split on them I would go after road hazard.It is covered for the first 2 yrs. I bought the extended road hazard tire and wheel warranty. After 60,000 miles I have only had to buy 2 tires.
