86 sportster turn signal

Hi again, got some good info on changing my standard rear turn signals into run,brake ,turn system..now I need some ideas about my left turn signal..its not a self cancelling system, but it won't stay on when I activate it..I have to hold the switch.

Are you saying that your RIGHT turn signal does stay on when you push & release the button? If the right signal continues flashing, does it self cancel after a certain time/distance/lean angle, or must you push the button to cancel flashing? Self cancelling signals did not appear until 1991 or 92. My 1986 Sportster signal buttons had to be held in to keep flashing. I don't know if the Run/turn/stop module has anything to do with this.

The right stays on until I hit the switch again..I have to hold the left on
