? About Oil Change in My 883

I changed my oil in my 883 yesterday,and it only took 3 quart's.The manual says it will hold 3.6 minus the 4oz you put in new filter.I changed it on a Jack.I checked it again and it is full.Could there be some left incrankcase?

There is always some oil left in the crankcase and some more can get in there if the check valve is not fully seating as the oil tank is higher than the crankcase
When changing the oil on a dry sump motorcycle you should first get the engine fully warmed up drain the oil replace the filter fill with new oil till you have oil on the dipstick ride bike till fully warmed up and then check the oil level on the dipstick best place to be is half way between full and empty

Crank case can hold up to 1 quart of old oil never put in the full amount, try 1/2 quart less each time and run til hot and recheck:s
