Recently got a '96 Dyna Convertable. I'd like to put a "king sportster" tank on it. Anyone do this and what pitfalls should I expect to encounter? It's got the stock big single fill fat bob tank on it now.
Anyone put a "king sporty" tank on a Dyna?

Never done it, but a couple of things to look at/think about; Dyna's have a large square backbone, the tunnel in the sportster tank might not fit over it all the way. The location, distance between mounting holes are different. You will have to adapt or weld. If possible check a dealer or salvage yard for a crashed xl tank to experiment with. Oh, no gas gauge either.

Yeah, it seems the backbone is not what I expected. The gas guage thing is no biggie, but fitting a round tunnel over a square tube, hmmm...that might take some doing.
