bike whistle

Hi gang,
been awhile since i been on here. I am just curious if any one else has noticed a strange noise when shutting down the engine?
Just as the motor stops it gives out a short but very noticeable whistle. Makes me look around to see if someone is trying to get my attention! I suspect it is just compression escapeing from the engine because it stops just as the exaust valve is starting to open. What is strange, is that it does this almost everytime i shut the motor off. I can't be that lucky (can i?)

Nothing to worry about. Many get the same whistle on shutdown as the engine comes to a stop.

Always look on the other side of the bike when you hear that whistle to be sure.

I too have the whistle when I turn the bike off. My HD service manager said the same thing as Glider and then showed me a brand new (back in 05) softail that make the same noise.:newsmile040:

Mine does it intermittantly.

If it don't whistle, the presue goes out the exhaust!
I think it's cool when I shut it down and it goes swirt through the intske.
