C clip snap rings

I will be replacing the passenger footpegs on my 06 Deluxe next week and need to remove the C clip snap rings, but all of the tips on my removal tool are too big.
Does anyone know what size tip I need to remove the clips?

Are you able to use a pair of needle nose pliers to push both ends of the clip and a small flat screwdriver to slid between the clip and shaft

I ran into this problem in a different situation, I bought a cheap snap ring tool ( I think Harbor Freight) and ground the tips down to fit. Sometimes you need to think outside the box.

Both above are good suggestions, you can also buy a tool that has different size nubs (tips), my set has 3 different size nubs, you may need to go to an auto supply store to get a good quality set.

Unfortunately, I don't have a grinder, or access to 1.

I have trashed or lost enough "Jesus Clips" in the past that I found buying the proper removal tool was justified. It will put confidence in your mechanical abilities!
