Cam cover rivets

Ok I know I read it somewhere on here but just can`t seem to find it.

I want remove the outer cam sensor cover the one with rivets and replace them with screws, I know you use a 3/8 inch bit to take the rivets out,But what size self tapping screws do I use to put the cover backs on or should I just get the stock rivets and use them.

A quick trip out to the garage shows the screws in my '92 cover to be 8-32.
Oops, I didn't measure, but length is about 1". I have a custom cast cover that may be thicker than sock.

I`m still not sure if I want to use the original rivets or go with the screws.But either way I now know what to look for when I do decide .

maybe i missed something, but a 3/8 hole is larger than a #8 screw..............bw

The 3/8" drill is used just to cut the heads off the stock rivets so the cover can be removed.
