Change from standard rear turn signals to run,turn,brake

I want to change the rear turn signals on my 86 Sportster to run, turn ,brake lights. I know there are kits available but how hard are they to install

I have installed the Harley Davidson kit and the Kuryakyn one. Very easy install using the supplied directions. Also, most states require that rear turn lenses be converted to RED if used as brake lights. The HD kit comes with red lenses.
NOTE; your 86 turn signal button must be held in to continue flashing correct? I doubt the install is different, just make sure the kit you buy specifies it fits non cancelling (pre 1992) signals.

I have done this conversion on my 08 softail, it's a simple pigtail that plugs into the wiring to the taillight. The one i used was HD, I doubt for an 86 HD would still have one available. The Kuryakyn is very similar to the HD as Breeze3at mentions.
