How have any of you dealt with engine heat? I tried the fiberglass wrap, made the problem worse. Any ideas?

Engine, or exhaust pipe?

Engine - if you haven't already done this, Stage 1 upgrade with a TFI to add fuel and richen up the mixture. FULL synthetic engine oil: 20W50 VTwin engine oil.

Pipes - heat shields is about it.

one idea from mechanic is to install power commander, screaming eagle air cleaner, different pipes and dyna tune. kind of pricey but i am not enjoying my bike so i need to do something. the heat is exhaust pipes.

will a power commander, se air cleaner and new pipes help with exhaust heat?

Recently changed to synthetic oil, the jury is still out as to heat reduction. Time will tell.
