Fork Seal/ O ring replacement

I've purchased a couple of Service Manuals (Chiltons and H-D and ??) in preperation to replace all of the seals and o-rings etc. in the forks on my 1986 FLHTC Electra Glide. I'm sure the manuals will be helpfull but I'm betting there are guys out there that might have some very helpfull hints too. Another question, I am planning on replaceing the handlebars while I'm that far in to it, question is; will I have to pretty much completely remove both the inner and out pieces of the fairing? by memory neither fairings will have to come off i think the bars and forks are covered by the dash that un screws from the inner fairing. the manual is the bes way to go, check the du bushs in the forks as they r probably worn out.
