Front Brake Replacement

Getting ready to replace the front brake pads on my '02 Dyna. My service manual states to back out the pins, but not to remove them, then to pry the brake pads free. Not sure exactly how far to pull these out to where the pads will 'drop' out, or what to pry with? I'm thinking a putty knife will do. Any advice on getting this 'easy' job done would be appreciated.

Have you checked the self help yet? Does it say anything about taking mastercylinder cap off and taking some fluid out before squeezing piston back? Once you do that pads should slide out and new ones back in. Top off brake fluid when done.
