Front fender attachment method

Was just wondering, I'm sure many people here will know the answer, why many of the Dyna models have both fender fasteners on the same side of the lower fork tubes?

I had no idea what you meant until I went to ebay and looked at some pictures. It must be some "styling" thing Willie G. came up with to earn his paycheck. Do you have any idea when it started? My '92 is front and rear tabs.

Have no idea when it started. I can only assume it was done to "clean up" the look of the front side. From my light engineering background...it doesn't make sense structurally but I am far from an expert.
