Would it be possible to build up a FXRT like bike? What model would I start with if possible. And where would I find a fairing and bags? Would I really have an almost FXRT or just a bike with fairing and bags added?
 
Your best bet would be to try to locate an FXRT. There's still a few around that would be worth looking into.
The FXR was a different platform completely with a frame similar to the touring bikes. It was about the best bike that Harley ever made.

I'm wondering if the new 750 might build up to a light weight tourer. I've been looking for a decent FXR and I'm finding they are pretty rare. Every thing I've found so far has been beat pretty good. Found a restored FXRT put man I could buy a new EGU for what the guy wanted.
 
 
Ya, I've had my eye on that first red one. That is a nice job there. Some of those others I have not seen though. Thanks.

I just got to the last one. Oh oh.....white is my color! :newsmile01:
