Glider can you help with some advice

I have a softail deuce efi 2004 fitted with screaming eagle slip ons exhaust and air filter with Power commander PCIII USB which was dyno by power commander distributor in Singapore. You were kind enough to give me some advice about popping earlier and advice with the TSM. At the time of fitting of the power commander and dyno there were several error codes on display predominantly to do with the turn signal module on the bike. Although this is supposed to be a sealed unit it was found that water had managed to penetrate into the unit and was causing many of the problems, we still fitted the power Commander and dyno it at the time and waited for a replacement turn signal module to arrive, this was subsequently replaced and all error codes were cleared. The power Commander distributor has fitted the power commander module just below the turn signal module on the bike however as I am now starting to experience some erratic behavior from the bike I am wondering if the power Commander could be experiencing the same problems I had with my turn signal module. Could you please let me know if the power Commander is completely waterproof and if not and I find water inside could you recommend a way of sealing the unit once I've had a chance to dry it out. I live and work in Malaysia and frequently have to ride my bike through heavy monsoon rain and we frequently have humidity levels well above the mid-nineties.

Currently when I start the bike up it ticks over normally however when you ride away it frequently backfires and there is a noticeable loss of power and the bike performs erratically, generally once the bike is hot this problem goes away. The second problem is at higher speeds and particularly in the fourth gear, when trying to accelerate quickly the bike appears to stutter and go through what appears to be a series of misfires with little pickup in power however as the revs get higher the problem appears to go away. In top gear (5th) when on the highway the bike has repeat this problem between 120 and 130 kilometers per hour which can be quite scary if you are in the process of overtaking a 16 Wheeler.

Could you let me know if you believed a problem may be caused by humidity within the power Commander or if you have experienced this problem due to some other symptom I would be grateful if you could let me know what course of action you would recommend. Please note that the power Commander distributor is in Singapore which is approximately 250 mi. and 1 border crossing away from my current location so returning to the distributor is a major logistics exercise so anything that I can do myself would-be greatly beneficial. There is a new Harley dealer in Malaysian now that has the Harley Davidson computer (digital technician) so that if required I can reset settings on the bike.However the mechanic has very little experience of bikes (less than one year) and was trained by the Singapore harley dealer.

One error code was P0108 I have replaced this sensor and had the error code as well as the historical codes deleted. Within 20 kilometers the symptoms were back and when running self diagnostics the same code has re-appered. The bike is ridable but you cannot sit back and relax you have to be ready to change down and accelerate. I also notice that the yellow engine warning light comes on intermittently when the bike is under load (going up hills or accelerating hard) , if I drop the revs and then accelerate slowly it goes away.

One thing that I have noticed when I have had power Commander connected to my laptop computer is that even without the bike running the idle speed is shown as 765 rpm however once the bike is started it ticks over in the range of around 1200 rpm which is on the high side.

Any assistance that you can offer or advice would be greatly appreciated,

That's a tough one to put an answer to. From what you explain, it sounds like a moisture problem and that can play havoc with electrical parts on these bikes as you found out already. As far as the PC, water can infiltrate that unit like others and once that happens damage to the unit can occur. I would be tempted to open the case and dry it out, then try to seal the entry points for the harness into the unit with some silicone. If you frequently ride in the rain or wash heavily, maybe putting the PC in a double zip lock bag and installing it so any portion of the bag where the harness exits is facing downwards. That's about the only thing I can suggest in a rainy situation that you are faced with.

Thanks for the advice I have now stripped the power commander and tested it, there appear to be no problems, I have now used some sealant from the electronics industery (which is used a lot down here to combat the humidity) to completely seal the circuit board.

I have replaced the MAP sensor (error code P0108) and Harley have reset the bike and cancelled all error codes.

Within 20 kilometers same problem occured and self diagnostics showing error code P0108 again. Any idea's

The only thing I can think of is a problem in the harness or a connection at a plug going to the map sensor. Other than that nothing pops into mind. P0108 is Map Sensor High.
