idle surge

I have a 2005 altra classic. the bike surges only when i come to a stop, other wise it rums great, oh when it surges its from 500 rpms to 1200 or so rpms. but not all time.

If it is a Fuel Injected bike it might help to clean the IAC (Idle Air Control). Here is a link to our Self Help Tip...

I agree with what The Tank has recommended above. This may solve the problem for a wee bit (a few months or so). I finally got tired of cleaning it out as indicated here:
