ignition switch knob removal

can anybody out there tell me how to remove the ignition switch knob on a 1992 electraglide classic flhtc i have been told by others repeatedly that there is a pin underneath it that you have to depress so it will come out but there is no pin on this particular switch knob. i once read somewhere and i dont remember where, but it said something about useing the key. hope someone out there can help me i need to service my front forks and i cant till i can remove this.

This bike should be the same set up as yours, The silver lock on the console has not changed much over the years, it is a compound switch/ fork lock
