Went on a nice ride with my in-laws and their friends this past Saturday.
Ravine Gardens State Park in Palatka.
Main Page - Ravine Gardens State Park Florida State Parks
We took 17 North from Deland up to Palatka. Hit the state park.
Then on the way home, took 20 West out of town, then 19 South through Ocala National Forest. Then 40 East and then back to 17 South. A nice cruise with plenty of places to stop and eat.
The park has a 1.8 mile loop you can ride through. The azaleas were blooming and it was a very nice slow ride.
Also, this weekend....
13TH ANNUAL AZALEA DAYS
Date: March 14 & 15, 2009 9:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m.
Description: Come enjoy a weekend of old fashion family fun. Start the day by taking a ranger-led wagon ride around a 1.8 mile loop of thousands of blooming azaleas, while listening to the unique history of this park. Learn why Ravine Gardens played an important role in the economic recovery of the City of Palatka. Walking along the extensive hiking trail system located at the bottom of the ravine our visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of color and beauty; including azaleas, dogwoods, magnolias and camellias. Vendors and crafters will be located around the Court of States within the park. The Palatka Art League will be located in the Civic Center. Also located this year in the Civic center will be an Archaeological display provided by the Saint Augustine Public Archaeology Regional Center. The sounds of music, by some local and non-local entertainers, will echo throughout the ravines. Food and refreshments will be available to purchase through out the park. Event will start Saturday at 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information and vendor applications contact Donna Rhein at Ravine Gardens State Park (386) 329-3721.
