need advice on exhaust

I have an '07 softail standard, I want to put the Vance & Hines Big shots stagered (chrome). The 2 in 2 shorter ones, not the long ones. I want to know what involves the whole job. What air filter, power commander and whatever else I need. Where can I get it at the best price possible as well as is it something that I can do or does it have to be a shop. I have a shop, but I just want to educate myself so when I go in there I don't sound like a dumb plumber. I am mechanically inclined but I know some things have to be put on a dyno and mapped. I hear there are power commanders that come set for bikes out there but that is from someone that thinks he is a mechanic and is actually a carpenter. I want to see what is out there and do it right. I don't want to mess up my bike, thank you.

Welcome to the forum.
If you use the search box at the top, you will find numerous posts on this discussion. There are alot of good options. Just do some research and learn what each has to offer for your wants and needs.

Welcome to the forum Sgtbuona, there is tons of information on the forum if you do a little searching, my preferred set up or your bike would be a S/E heavy breather or the S/E breather if you like the look of the stock air cover, the pipes you are thinking about, the V&H big shot with the power chamber, the shorter ones, they look, sound and perform great. I would use the S/E super tuner, nothing is better then a stock Harley ECM that is 100% programmable, I would just install the stage 1 map that Harley has built and use the smart tune feature if I felt it needed to be fine tune. That is the cleanest most reliable set up there is, nothing has to be piggy backed the system. All this is just my personal opinion from my experience, there are many, many ways that you can go, only you can decide what's best set up for you, do your home work and I'm sure you'll be happy with your decision.

Thanks for the advice, I do like the like the look of the stock air cover, so it sounds like a good idea using the s/e breather. I appreciate the feed back.

my bike has khrome werks slip ons with baffel ( nice deep tone no tinny sound and not
excesively loud ) se fuel pack ( no need to piggy back, plugs straight in and is already mapped out )and a k.n filter.more power great sound and no popping when shutting off throttle on over run or flat spots .ive kept standard air filter cover on cos i like the standard look ( and limited edition 105 )good luck with your mods............

I have an 07 deuce. Bolted the big radius 2-2 myself. Never worked on a bike before in my life.. it is pretty involved but not too bad. I didn't do a remap or air cleaner or anything like that yet. Runs fine as is.

Basically if you know how to read directions and have the right tools, you will be capable. Hardest part was lining up the pipes with no extra hands to keep them from hitting off other parts of the bike...
