I am looking for a ignition switch for a 1987 Electra Glide. Can someone point me in the right direction. The dealer is saying it is discontinued.

Might have good luck on ebay or Craigslist, here's an aftermarket "fatbob" style that
will fit most years with the switch on the tank.

Like the others have suggested you might have good luck going used. I checked V-Twin Manufacturing and didn't see a switch there listed for that bike (but there are universal type switches there). Otherwise you might try this one from Debrix: VT Cast Top Ignition Switch for 1985-1995 Harley FLH Electra-Glide

I think 71501-73 is the 85-93 6 post switch you want. Just type that number in the google search box and take your pick of wher to buy it.

I have a 85 FLHTC and the parts book I have is for 84-86 and it lists the part as 71549-82A.

If it is the correct one for you Harley-Davidson® Parts and Accessories Default.asp has it for 74.40.
