Oil temp sending unit

So I have a buddy that I gave my Harley Davidson oil temp gauge and kit to he installed gauge in fairing, ran the wire and when he went to install the sending unit into oil pan (ho yea my bike is a 09 FLHT his 08 FLHT) the threads are different so no go. Anyone know if Harley sells just the sending unit?

If his sensor is smaller than the hole, he may just be missing the reducer. They are available at auto parts stores for cheap. Is he trying to use the correct hole
(horizontal, front facing) in the pan?

Got it in and yes he was trying to install in wrong hole :lolrolling
