Passenger Grab Rail

I would like to put a passenger grab rail off of an older model FLHTC, on a 2009 Ultra Classic, someone told me they will not fit. Does anyone one have any information on this, or has anyone tried to put an older one on a 2009.

I would not think the earlier ones would fit on the wider fender.
