Rear Cylinder Heat Shield

I've been searching but can't find much info. I believe their called the "Rear Cylinder Heat Shield", its that ugly piece of plastic covering the rear cylinder (obvious) to protect the passengers leg.

What's your opinion...I know they're there to serve a purpose, but they really take away from the engine look.

Anyone removing them? Is there a better replacement than the factory one?

There's a bunch on ebay listed under Harley saddle shields or engine heat shields. I have the smaller clear ones on my Electra G. They are not attractive, but they do help keep some engine heat off of you. In stop and go traffic, not so much. The larger ones probably work a bit better.
 
They do help, but the HD plastic ones are ugly. Give this a try. ZOOD is a sponsor here on the forum
