Speedo cable

I am replacing the whole cable on my 1987 1100 sporty, the speedo cable that is. My question is how do I remove the cable from the front wheel? I think it just threads in but there isn't anywhere to get a small wrench on it, unless I use water pump pliers on it. Any advice would help, thanks.

I'm pretty sure there is a set screw under the housing that needs to be removed and then you can back out the cable by turning it counter clockwise. You should get good instructions with the new cable too.

I just looked at it with a mirror and there is a set screw there. Thanks

One more thing, I'm assuming after I take the set screw out, the cable is threaded in? Just want to make sure before I go screwing around with it.

you can back out the cable by turning it counter clockwise
