Stuck Dipstick

I have an 06 Ultra Twin Cam with one of those LED dipsticks. I went to pull it the other day to change oil and it is stuck. I mean I can twist it and pull up to remove it, it won't pull up to come out. I have removed it many times without a problem. Any ideas?

I first tried when it had cooled down some. Then tried it when hot. Still no luck. It has me baffled. It is like some little gremlin with hercules strength is holding it in.

If you have one of those rubber strap wrenches (I use mine for oil filter) - it should work w/o damaging the top. Sometimes those thinges get welded on...especially if they sit awhile & run lots of hot/cold cycles.

Question, are you saying the the gripping surface just "spins" after you loosened it and the threads have risen up a bit? Sounds like the top trim is "spinning" loose on itself? :small3d002:

Well, thanks for the input. Never was able to get the dipstick free. Ended up taking it to the dealer for an oil change. After all, if they were to break it I would stand a chance of getting it replaced at no cost. They ended up breaking it and replaced it at no charge for the part. That didn't hurt my feelings any since a new on was $189. When I asked the service manager about why it would have broken, he told me that the older ones (the ones with the smooth round top) would just do that. Anyway, long story short, it actually paid to take the bike to the dealer for a change. :D
