I am trying to remove the belt pulley from the transmission shaft I have a long 1 7/8 socket but I am not sure which way to turn it can anyone help please? I have tried both ways but so far no luck.

yes, the nut is left hand thread.so to remove it turn it clockwise

The nut is on fairly tight and held in place by loctite 262 so you will need to use a fair bit of heat to break the loctite bond
And as has been stated a left hand thread
