Im replacing the rear tire on my 08 Ultra Classic and noticed a little rotational play between the rear drive sprocket and the wheel itself. Is some play normal or should I just replace the rubber inserts?
John
I'm not sure on the amount of acceptable movement or just what the life of the cush drive parts are. If you can afford the cost and you already have the wheel off I would say replace them.
Back in the mid 70's I had a Z1-B that had a similar drive set up and I replaced them about every 15 to 20,000 miles. Of course I'm sure they have better rubber compounds now.
Just had mine (Cushion Drive) and "A" frame, Checked by a HD Tech friend...
NOW Wait .................................................... 86,000 and no need to replace ANYTHING yet (90,500 today)...But you know me. I never ride mine hard :no No twisting the wick :21: Easy does it Always :rofl
Original Drive Belt n pulleys...
Hope it doesn't fall apart out in the garage now...
