My tach works but my odometer shows nothing and my speedo doesn't work.
I do have backlighting/dashlights on the speedo.
Could this be the VSS also. I read all the info above and will check the VSS first.
My bike is a 1996 883 hugger, speedo part# 67037-96a and I have a replacement speedo 67037-98b, that is suppose to work on my bike but it's a plug in and mine now is hard wired? 'spose I could clip a few wires and splice?
Shouldn't my odometer show numbers even if the VSS is bad/metal filings.
Thanks, Ken
Edit for repair.
The VSS was okay. I removed the tach speedo combo and replaced it with a single speedo I received when I bought the bike. Had to use the wiring diagrham changing from an 10 to a 12 pin connector. The service manual was great and the wires were marked and the new Speedo worked fine.
