1998 Road King noise on jiffy stand

Hello all,

I have a lifter noise when the motorcycle is on jiffy stand.
This noise disapperars when the bike is right or when I accelates the engine.
I set the Crane time saver pushrods but nothing works...
The lifters and lifter guides are recent.

I think it is a pressure oil pump but why on jiffy stand only ?

Please can you help me.

Thank you

If this is an EVO check and clean the tappet screen # 15

This may sound dumb but check your oil level. The old Shovelheads used to rattle a lot on the jiffy stand if the oil level was down. You've probably already checked but ....

Guardian bell? Hey, ya never know! LOL!

Funny you mention that. After completing my Stage I and going for a test ride last weekend, I came to a stop light and heard a strange noise. Couldn't quite make out what it was or where it was coming from. Turned out it was my guardian bell just a singin' along with the motor. :D

Thank you for your answers.

Today, I started the procedure again.
It is the same thing :wall
Bike on jiffy stand or tilted on the left, noise appears.
It is really a tappet noise.
The oil holes on the new tappet blocks are more smaller than the OEM.
It is a possible trouble.
Or my oil pump flow is not good enough.
When I accelerates the RPM engine the noise disappears.

This morning I checked the camshaft axial clearance.
The maximum clerance is .005 (1,27 mm) but the actual clearance is .0063
(1,60 mm).
I think that the camshaft knock into the gearcase when the bike is tilted.
Solution is to place a shim in order to limit camshaft movement.
