I think the over heating comment was misinterpreted from the manual, I think the removal in the summer refers to the rider getting more air. The baffle actually defers the air below the tank toward the engine. The "side deflectors" divert most of the air from reaching the top of my legs and tracking upward. Al :USA :CONNECTICUT
