CB Output/Receive Range

I have a CB with dual antennas in my Mack and can get nowhere near 10 miles.I'm probably in the 1-3 mile range.

Only use one antenna duel antennas on them large cars are not spaced far enough a part,Sounds like youve got a bad coax.

With a max of 5w and a nearly perfectly tuned antenna, (1.1:1 swr) you may get 5 miles range at best. If there is any traffic on the channel your broadcasting on, it will be considerably less. Since there is no "ground plane" on a bike for reflectivity of your signal, you are relying on the base loaded coil in the antenna to make up for the lack of this ground plane. I would say that your best case scenario under these conditions would be about 2 miles. :s
