Same in the nuclear power field. When we were doing large jobs in Japan, we would take 30 or 40 torque wrenches along. Most were sealed and locked up, with QA having the only access. When we needed a wrench, they would remove the seal and place it in service. We had 90 days before it was discarded. The cost to calibrate a radioactively contaminated wrench in Japan is about 4 to 5 times the cost of a new one, including the disposal costs.
