Chrome Bolt Covers

I've installed the plastic chrome bolt covers from HD.They work for me.Easy to install and haven't lost 1 yet

So far, all the plastic ones I have seen look like plastic. I am sold on high grade Stainless Steel.:s

Stainless steel is preferred, and like all said previous any CRITICAL fasteners should be replaced with equivalent fastener grade. Local hardware stuff is okay for the non-critical stuff only...JMHO.

I have found that just because there a HD logo on the package doesn't automatically mean theres not junk inside the package. Be careful, there can be some poor quality chinese made parts hiding in black and orange packaging.

I agree with you Doug. There's more junk in the black and orange packaging that is form foreign sources that just isn't up to par IMO.

I had a Russian Ural and we complained and joked about the chrome quality. I haven't seen the Harley quality is really all that much better, just way more expensive, which makes it harder to joke about.

Had a couple of the H-D toppers seperate, looks like air bubbles under paint.

If you are going to use the bolt covers, the hot toppers are the way to go. They are excellent quality and are guaranteed against loss too.

A lot of my street rod buddies swear by Gardner-Westcott fasteners. They sell chrome, stainless and even gold plated hardware in all grades. probably a better choice than toppers.

This site has a lot of toppers for all kind of bolts. Kinda expensive and I haven't used them but plan to soon ...because of rusty Harley Chrome bolts.
