I am in Canada ,and no Smitty it's not like mars. The insurance industry on the whole has standardized. Take my advice and get out the magnifying glass.If you can show another point of stress or fatigue you will get your write off.
Better yet Steve I have hired a metal fatigue specialist [ stress conditions by uttrasound on boats, aircraft etc. ] I still have to pay for the shop to '' clear off the frame'' but i know i will get this back if they find frame damage.
On another note, the frame even though the most important is not the only concern, what about the transmission, electrical, tweaked steering and the list goes on, a non hd shop not in the area must have told me of 20 more things they inspect clear of the frame which in $ could even outway frame cost.
don,t mean to harp but this is why a harley 09 streetglide damage repair checklist is so so important, don't get me wrong i appreciate all the help and suggestions.

Last December, my in-laws were rear ended as they drove home their brand new bike w/ 40 miles on it. The driver hit them going 30+ MPH as she texted and they were at a stop sign. The driver was under-insured. My in-laws had bodily inuury and they got a lawyer. The bike had close to $10K in damage, but they just paid $20K for it the same day. They and their lawyer pushed to total it, but their insurance agency didn't due to the fact the frame, motor, tranny and front end was in "good shape". The lawyer forced the insurance company to have 2 dealers look it over. Both said no frame, tranny or other front end damage. However, the dealer who fixed the repair said the manufacturer's warranty will still be valid and the dealer who fixed it is liable for the saftey of the bike once they turned it over to my in-laws.
In the end, they are back on the road after 3 months. They have both healed w/ a few scars on the knees, but the bodily injury lawsuit is still going through litigation (could take a yr or so).

Not to derail this thread...but when I hear of this type of incident when a stupid cager is using their cellphone while driving, I instantly go into rage. IMO, a cager with a cell phone in use while driving is enemy number 1 to all the lives of motorcycles. I wish groups like ABATE and others would stop worrying about their helmet laws and push their legislators to get some SERIOUS fines for boneheads with phones....

I agree they need to figure out how to make it so you cant text while driving texting is worse than talking on the phone

My wife and I were in our brand new chevy crew cab Dually a couple of years ago. We were broadsided by another truck doing sixy three miles an hour as it ran a stop sign. It was a mess. The truck was a total loss. But after they depreciated it I lost my Edit Our $57,000 custom truck was only worth about $32,000. Go figure.My wife was flown to shock trauma as well as the driver that hit us, They are doing OK now. We got Edit on the Medical and the physical damages. It isn't any fun to deal with lawyers and Ins companies. But you have to fight. Good luck

I take it your in Ont CA. I think you need to work with a good HD dealer as they have all the mesurements and can lazer your frame to confirm its condition. main frame is about 2700 and rear portion is about 900, Ont insurance aparently like to right them off more than other provinces so I am supprised you are having such a hard time. Hidden stuff on your 09 to watch for . fuel pump and fuel level are both on plastic arms that if broken you have to buy each complete unit not just the supporting arm total for both close to 900, and easly broken in a small crash. Also remember any little scratch etc that items needs to be replaced. Bent brake rotors is another item and they have specs for all of this. so many items need to be check and confirmed.
Is this the other guys insurance company. and if so WOW can belive they would be giving you a hard time at all

I am in newfoundland, if i was in ontario i would at least have more than one hd service shop to deal with, and ya i can't believe the other persons insurance is giving me such a battle especially with the extent of my physical injuries.
I have not had any luck obtaining a ''damage checklist'' from a hd dealer, as you can see this was my initial post request, so information from other riders on what to check like the fuel pump and plastic arms that you mentioned, thank you, are so important and very helpful.

Do you have a service manual. it would be help full. I believe if you search manuals on this site you will find one here. easy check for stearing loosness etc. with an bike jack, lift the bike leave off the ground and hold the bars all the way to the left and let it go. It should stop in 3rd swing.. see manual pg 1-49 for picture. This is with front end completely together. This does not tell you if any major damage is there just one of the easy setting to check. did you have collision insurance and if yes can you not work through you insurance company and let them fight the other co. PS my sister and hubber are out there in NF for a couple of years now and loves it.
