Ialways turned my gas off on my shovel. Just never good remember to turn it back on .Now newer bike 2000 dont have that promblem , till i take the shovel out . Have a sticker on the dash board is ur gas on . It helps

I found out the hard way also, fuel line cracked they like to dry out here in AZ wouldn't have ruined my nice new garage floor if I had remembered to shut it off. Now I check the line for stiffness every summer and replace the line when needed.
