Farting and missing-the bike that is.

My 97 Softail coughs and misses until it warms up,then it runs fine. Engine is stock,same with the exhaust. If I put a heat gun on the manifold and warm the engine up for 5min its ok. This is at 70deg ambient temp. Manifold leak? Or VOES malfunction? Carb enricher? Any advise would help , thanks
 
Agree with looking for vacuum leaks when acting up, carb cleaner with the tube in the nozzle using short sprays close related areas of gaskets and seals, RPM quality should change when you find a leak.
 
As Jake said check your intake, you may be getting oil mist that doesn't burn off until the temp goes up, a good cleaning may help as Joel mentions.
 
Make sure you have a good fit of the carb to the intake manifold also, they can suck air there also
