I can't really complain about the Dunlop HD tires as The manufacturer of most vehicles tend to put on good quality tires .

usually the manufacturer gives the contract to the lowest bidder, so even if it's a good brand name tire the line that goes on the vehicle will almost definitely not be top of the line. Dunlop does make good tires but the ones that come stock usually aren't the best option.....IMO

As the others have said glad that you are ok Vibratinharley. The bike can be fixed. I would like to hear what the dealer thinks happened to the tire becuase I run Dunlops. Did you have the wheel and tire warenty. But get well soon and back on the steed. Hope the damage isn't to bad :ap

My wife and I done the same thing one time on rt.26 in SC. I know the feeling you are talking about, The difference with us was this, for years after that we would both feel that crasy ride we had from left to right back and forth fro time to time I still can feel it . Glad you are OK ?

I've had very good luck with Dunlap tires. That all I've ever used. I have a 04 Road King. The greatest percent of my riding is two up and I've pulled a trailer many times. I average 8 to 9,000 on the rear and 20 plus on the front. Ride lots of country road coz I live in the sticks. Here however they groove the heck out of the highways' and lots of tires feel funny...I do check my tires before each ride and my air shocks as well. Proper inflation is so important on these bikes.
I honestly don't believe a Dunlop tire is a cheaply made tire...in todays world its all about liability.

I talked to the dealership where my bike is this morning and they said there was a hole in the tire from a bolt or something and hole was big enough that when they aired the tire to move the bike to a lift, all the air came out before they made it on the lift. I guess I picked this up somewhere between my house and the turnpike as tires and pressures were checked before trip.

I want to run some kind of sealer in the tires to help prevent this from happening again. Any suggestions?
I talked to the dealership and they do not recommend a sealer but I don't always follow their recommendations and would like to hear some thoughts on this.

Don't run a sealer in a tubeless tire. It is a real mess and a lot of shops won't do a tire service if you do have Slime or something like it. It also makes a tire unrepairable. Also I think that it is corrosive to aluminum

I agree with kenmol and wouldn't use a sealer in the tire myself. It makes a mess should a tire service be needed and also what he said about dealers not working on the tire if it has a sealer in it is true. If they break down a tire on their machine and that tire had a sealant in it,it will make a mess out of their machine and I'm sure you will hear some nice words from the tire changer.

I used to run green Slime. If you got spokes you probably got a tube and if you got a tube it shouldn't cause a problem. But I would let the mechanic changing your tire know that it's in there before they worked on it.

as far as making the tire unrepairable........the only way I would repair a bike tire is by putting a tube in it if it was a brand new one with only a pin hole in it. Most shops won't fix a motorcycle tire for you unless you sign a waiver.

OK, Help me out here. I am seriously concerned about what happened the other day as this was the closest I ever came to being killed. I was checking out this stuff called Ride ON and it says it doesn't damage or cause rims to rust and it doesn't deteriorate tires. And, It washes out with water. IDK but I really need something to make me feel more secure in regards to flat tire if I am ever gonna ride on fast road again. Please check this out and tell me what you think. > Ride-On | Tire Protection System < I think that a lot of people are concerned because some stuff is explosive and does deteriorate tires and corrode rims but this stuff seems to be different.

Also, What do you think about this.
The paint on front fender is chipped and fender is damaged and fender skirt is torn. Dealer said that insurance co. wants to just repair but paint shop is busy and I would loose bike for most of riding season and this is not gonna work for me. The bike is an 08 with 4200 miles on it and I have $26000 + invested in it. Shouldn't they just replace the fender as they can buy it from Harley already painted in the Dark Blue Pearl?

I think I'd push them for replacement. That is unacceptable to lose the use of the bike for the want of a fender that is available now.
Can't be that much difference between repair and replacement costs especially if you figure in loss of use of the vehicle.
