Check tour wires going from the kill switch to the ignition switch. I had the exact same issue on my '84 & that was the issue. The wire was shorting out & ended up frying my electronic ignition. Good luck and welcome!
So it turned out being the metal plate/cover over ignition module, was loose and shorted it out, found out after it completely died and I had to push it 6 blocks
