Hand signals

I only use four

left hand straight out from shoulder--left
left hand straight up bent at the elbow--right
left hand straight down --- stop
left hand raised and center finger raised--- thank you for being so considderate in your driving

Hey those are the same 4 that I use.However I have been known to raise both arms and extend and shake the middle fingers to try and emphasize my opinion of my fellow travelers. Not having turn signals on my bike I use hand signals every time I change lanes or come to a stop.

Hand signals are a good thing, generally I look for at least 2 signs that a person on the road is signaling their intensions...be it turn signal and hand signal or tune signal and front wheel initiating turn before I consider a signal valid.

Two many times, only one signal given may be a false alarm or improperly given for something else the rider/driver intends to do. Example... left turn only, but does a U-turn in front of you AND on coming traffic instead!
