Dunno for sure, I think it has to do with the flywheel cogs that pass thru the crank sensor and the software program in the ECM It is has not been a good way of testing for spark on late model ignition systems for some time now, even with modern car engines you may not see spark with a plug removed and grounded, how ever with the plug boot pilled back slightly you may see the spark jump, this secondary voltage should jump to the nearest ground pathhow does the ecm see compression
