I suspect that the tweeter pod improved the directional stereo affect and pierces the road noise better then a coaxial mounted tweeter, where the sound wave from the widerange speaker behind affects that highs phasing and quality...JMO.
I also took a photo that I will try to post when I get back from my work trip Wednesday.
I lined up the stock speaker next to the J&M next to the Hogtunes. You don't even need to get out a ruler to notice the difference in the size of the magnets!
Big magnets = better transient (bass) response for better "punch"! Larger magnets are needed for stiffer cone structures with more mass...the elastomer edge if cloth is more durable if exposed to the "--great outdoors".
