I can see the three acorn nuts at the windshield mounts in the lower picture.
I don't think that TQ has drilled through the lower fairing mounts,just the upper at the windshield

Yep - I figured that out after a few more sips of my morning coffee!

I have never had a problem with the windshield mounts on my bike either. I have removed the windshield several times since owning the bike. When replacing the windshield back on I just snug the screws since brass is a soft metal.
