Really an easy decision IMHO as it is the only way to eliminate the tensioners which, whether OEM, CYCO or converted to hydraulic remain a maintenance issue. For sure the OP should eliminate the OEM tensioners for CYCO or convert to hydraulic for bit more peace of mind; cheaper than converting to gears but still a maintenance item subject to wear and failure. However, if funds are available and crank run out within spec of .003" or less, gears is the way to go; do it once and done.
