Welcome from south Texas and the also owner of a 2005 FXSDT. How many miles on the bike?
Just a few heads up suggestions.
2005 was the year for failing valve guide seals, tech bulletin issued and many, mine included, were replaced under warranty. Have the nearest dealer run the VIN; if such work was done by a dealer, it will be in the system. Otherwise, if you should experience high oil consumption, the bad guide seals will likley be the cause.
If you are mechanically inclined, pull the cam cover and check out the cam chain tensioners; the inner on mine was toast at 12.5K miles.
You will also find that the Deuce is the red headed step child of the softail lineup when it comes to accessories; get used to reading "all except FXSTD".
I am 5'-10" and about 185# and found the Deuce handle bars and seat made for an uncomfortable riding position for any ride longer than about 25 miles; had to change them.
Do you know if any performance mondifications have been made, i.e., air filter? exhaust? etc.
Congrats on the purchase.
