Leather or Textile?

i have both the leather should me more abrasive resistant but the cordura is more weather resistant
if riding in the winter always wear the cordura its warmer and keeps the water out
last summer took the liner out of the cordura and wore it most of the time as we did have a lot of rain
leather was worn on day trips when the weather was good
did 150 miles in a thunder storm in germany boots lasted about 15 miles gloves about the same the cordura didnt let the water through and the fags stayed dry in the waterproof pocket

Come on, we're talkin' Harley's here, not kawazuki's. "Black denim trousers, motorcycle boots and a black leather jacket with an eagle on the back..." How're ya gonna be the terror of hiway 101 wearin' anything else??

i use Kevlar Jeans in the summer with Textile jacket and in the winter Textile trousers and Jacket, with the good solid gloves and boots.
For those that say the textile stuff does not is not as good as leather i came off in textile bike gear and more or less walked away unscathed - broke my foot and few few bruises and cuts and that was all from a 500ft tarmac surf after dropping the bike at 60mph

Wow, glad your okay and also relieved that I have not had to "road test" my gear to make the testimony of textile over leather...so I guess it is even money...for the street rider using upper tier textile gear, especially when wet over leather. You guys 'cross the pond have a tough road to "row"...:D

That said I would still give the nod to leather, purely based on GP pros proving their worth every weekend...not that I would rate street leathers typically off the rack in the same catagory. :33:

the years of service were easy as went in 3 days after 15th birthday so had never tried anything else was a way of life
but i do know about trying to stay warm and dry and cordura does make a good bit of difference just wish id had my gortex lined boots with me on that journey but feet would have cooked the rest of the trip as 2 days later we went up and down the mosel valley wearing tshirt and helmet it was hot
