I assume the U1016 which is loss of serial Ecm data is the one causing the issue

I bet not. I would look into the b1155 first. B1155 is neutral safety switch has a short to ground. May be intermittent. If the power vision is installed between ECM and harness, that may be reason for no communications to ECM. (U1016) Did you see a "no Rsp" from the P group (ECM node).

Clear the codes, ride the bike & see if the b1155 comes back. If it does return, fix that issue first. A U1016 by itself should show as historical (amber key icon) and should not lite the red key icon.
