Negative cable ground - new position?

This is a bit of a long video but it may help with easily removing battery and installing new:

Had seen that vid before.
Problem is that on mine, the neg cable to battery is so tight, it won't let the battery wiggle out far enough to get a spanner on it.

Just 1 other point:
He disconnects the positive first - is that not a big no-no? He says it doesn't matter. Plenty folk on here say the opposite, as does the manual!
 
If you go for the + when the - is still connected if the tool touches the frame and the + at the same time it can complete a circuit with the power flowing through the tool to the frame which could cause the tool to be welded to the frame and the short circuit could damage the bikes electrics
If you could insulate the tool from the chance of touching the frame it should be ok I would cut a strip of old inner tube and wrap the spanner with it and over wrap with insulating tape leave only the jaws of the spanner uncovered
