You mentioned a back problem, are you using a backrest? I had some back and shoulder problems also and switching out the handlebars and adding a back rest fixed everything.
Do you do a lot of two up riding? I do and that was the primary reason I traded up to an Ultra. If a back rest stops the pain and you ride solo not much excuse to change....unless you really want a bagger in which case I say GO FOR IT! I love my 09 Ultra - runs and handles great, and I'm at a mature age where I love my creature comforts - cup holder, cruise control, tunes, etc. Mine is stage one and of course no CAT. My best friend has a 10 with CAT and no stage one. We both have HD oil coolers and synthetic and he has a Lenale fan. We are both very happy. Your mileage may vary.
