Ok I'm looking into putting True Duals on Momma's 2000 FLHTCUI to help get some of the heat down on the thighs. Kinda looking at V&H. Anyone have any input or recommendations?
True duals will not make a noticeable difference in heat relief as the head pipe from the rear cylinder passes right under the seat and out under the thigh. I live/ride in south Texas so I understand the heat issue. I currently run a set of RH TDs on my 107" '02 FLHT and can tell you from personal experience that my left thigh gets more heat than from the stock exhaust system.
I am in the process of converting my RH TDs to the later 2:1:2 system that crosses over under the frame for the sole purpose of getting that rear cylinder cross over as far from my backside and leg as I can. The only other way to really move that heat is to convert to a 2:1 exhaust.
I will start the conversion in couple of weeks, still waiting for parts. So, I will have a set of RH TDs for sale soon and if you still think you want to go the TD route, let me know. I can save you some money and let them go for a pretty reasonable price; much less than you will spend for a new system. BTW, I hate to pull the RHs; love the sound but the heat has to go.:newsmile058:
Thanks for the input. Let me know when you get ready to get rid of them.. If nothing else I'll put them on my bike.. I'm not bothered by the heat as much as the bride is on hers. I think a lot of the issue is her legs are so short that they are almost rite up against the exhaust. Maybe it would be easier to trade her for one with longer legs. (LOL) No .. Wait this is her bike that idea wouldn't help. DAGNABBIT.
