NOBODY,not even Pavlov.EVER considered a beer as a "temporary" reward.
A beer is a self fulfilling prophesy.Whilst you're with it,life is sweeter,you sing better,you're smarter,taller,more erudite.You're better looking,suave,sophisticated,your dress sense improves,your inhibitions no longer hold you back and your sense of humour instantly becomes perfect.
